Lasantha Gunasinghe is a highly skilled aviation specialist with over 20 years of experience in both commercial and military aviation and also 6 years in aviation education sector.
Lasantha holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Aeronautical Engineering from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU), Sri Lanka, and also he has earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Defence Management from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education from KDU, Aeronautical Engineers’ (Mechanical) Course from Air Force Technical College, India.
Lasantha has followed advanced training programs, including aircraft maintenance, safety, accident investigation, Advanced Design Methods and leadership development from globally recognized institutions in the USA, UK, India, and Pakistan.
His professional journey includes roles such as Chief Engineer for the Sri Lanka Aviation Unit under the UN Mission in South Sudan, Bell 412 Line and Base Maintenance Engineer at Helitours, and Head of the Aeronautical Engineering Department at Kotelawala Defence University.
He is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS, UK) and a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (Category B1.3 and Category C) for Bell 412 helicopters.
